Drupal, instruktioner för redaktörer

Language management

This manual is no longer in use. Instead, you can find guidelines and instructions for working on gu.se, the Student Portal, and the Hotel Portal in Redaktörsmanual Drupal.

DescriptionIn this example, we describe how a web or content editor can create an English version of an existing Swedish rich page.

Do as follows:

  1. Start by switching to the “Content” tab in the top left.
  2. Click the “Rich page” link.

  3. Translate
Open the Rich page you created previously to create an English language version and click the “Translate” tab.

  4. Add
Click the grey “Add” button to create an English translation of the page. The English version of your page will now open in edit mode. The top part of the page translates automatically, but when you do the main body of the page, one needs to build the page from scratch which means one needs to keep looking at the Swedish version of the page to see what needs to be done.
The idea now is to replace the Swedish text found in the different fields on the page with English translations. Before you save the page, don’t forget to change the menu link so that it’s also translated.
  5. Save the translation
Use the button at the bottom of the page to Save/Publish. You’ll now be sent to the English language version of the page and can view the results of your translation efforts.

  6. Functions
Alternatively, via the Overview on the Rich page you can switch to the “Functions” field and select “Translate” under “Edit” in the drop-down list.

Troubleshooting

I cannot link to English pages from Swedish pages.

The idea is that there should be a language buddy on all sides. If you do not have a language buddy and still want to link in this way, then you need to create an external push and insert a hard link.
