DescriptionHere we describer how to upload your own images to the image library. You don’t need to change the image size, as the different sizes are generated automatically depending on how they’re to be used. Keep in mind that if you want to use an existing image but for a different purpose or another type of promo, you need to upload the image again.

Do as follows:

  1. To upload or search for images, use the “Content” link in the top left.

  2. Image library
    Click the “Image library” tab.
    1. You can choose whether to use an existing image from the “Space image library” or from the university’s “Shared image library”.

    2. In this example, we choose to upload an image of our own.
  3. Click the “+ Add image” button to create a new image object.

  4. Title
Enter a title for the image in the “Title” field (required). Be sure to give it a suitable title. This isn’t seen by visitors, but you need to choose a suitable title to make it easier to search for images in the system.
  5. Image
Click “Browse…” in the “File” field to upload your image file and select it (required). You can only select one file at a time to upload. The maximum image size is 50 MB and the permitted file types are JPEG/JPG, GIF and PNG.
  6. Focal point
Click the focus symbol to set the focal point of the image. Changes to the focal point affect all versions of the image. Say, for example, that you have an image of a person, it’s important that you set the focal point to the person’s face. If the focal point was set to the person’s stomach, all promos would centre the person’s stomach. You can only set the focal point for images you upload, not other people’s image. Also keep in mind that if you choose to change the focal point later, this will affect all promos where other editors have used the image.

  7. Preview
You can see what the image will look like in different formats and different image sizes and with different focal points by clicking the “Preview” link (opens in new window).

  8. Photographer
Enter the photographer’s name in the “Photographer” field (to be used when there’s a name to add). If it’s a graphic, this field doesn’t need to be completed. The photographer’s name will appear under the image on the page or pages where it’s used, with the exception of promos.
  9. Keywords
The “Keywords” field is to make it easier to search for the image in the system. If you have several keywords, separate them with commas or spaces.
  10. Categories
Specify one or more preset categories in the “Categories” field (required). These categories are also to make it easier for editors to search for images in the system.

  11. Click the “Save” button to add the image to the media library.
